Some days, I write. Other days, I paint. Both are ways I express what’s inside — but I’ve learned that each one serves a different purpose.
- When I journal, it’s usually because my mind is noisy. Writing helps me organize my thoughts, explore my feelings, and understand patterns.
- When I paint, it’s often because I don’t have words. I’m overwhelmed — either with joy or confusion — and I need to let my hands lead.
Here’s how I decide:
- Feeling anxious or overthinking? I write.
- Feeling something I can’t explain? I paint.
For anyone starting out — don’t overthink. Start with what feels natural. There’s no rule.
Sometimes, I start writing and end up sketching in the margins. Creativity doesn’t follow straight lines. And that’s the beauty of it.
